Calling All Members! Please Read!
Sometime next week the Public Safety Committee will meet to review several important corrections related bills. In particular they will be decide whether the Civilian Review Board bill (H 2853) comes out of committee or is "sent to study," the proverbial graveyard. In light of this, you are all invited to attend a Calling Party this Saturday, December 6th from 10am- 4pm at 536 Massachusetts Avenue, Apt. 1 in Boston's South End. Please come for whatever portion of the day you are available.
We will be calling other members to encourage them to contact the Public Safety Committee Members as well as their local representatives. There are over 100 bills in front of the committee for review. If we want this bill to make it out alive we must take action now. If Committee members here from us they will understand that the people of the Commonwealth care about the state of our Prisons, the safety of the incarcerated, and the safety of the people that work there. Also as of Friday December 5th on the CJPC website you may use this draft letter that you may print and send if you prefer. All actions must be done promptly as the Committee will meet next week.
